Missionary Resources Connection

Enhancing the health, ministry effectiveness and
longevity of service of missionaries and their families

Church Involvement

Working Together As We Care for Those Whom God Has Called

Many missionaries serving all over the globe come to Columbia, South Carolina, for education and furlough purposes. Some missionaries temporarily living here may have a local church home. Others are far away from their stateside base and lack any local connection. Whatever the situation, your church can play a significant role in the nurture and care of missionaries.

Missionaries returning from the field have all the same needs as anyone else; medical, legal, financial, psychological and spiritual. Taking care of those needs when one is new to the area and often only going to be here for a brief period of time can present particular challenges.

Additionally, there are specific factors complicating this process when one has been out of the country for a prolonged period of time. What an opportunity the local church has to reach out and assist in assuring that the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of these servants are met!

Coordinating Practical Resources

The tasks of finding housing, transportation, schooling for the children, and acclimating to a strange and new environment can be overwhelming and stressful for the returning missionary. Missionary Resources can work together with your church in linking your missionaries with necessary practical resources. And, your church can also become involved in assisting those with no local church home by providing a temporary base for fellowship, spiritual refreshment and practical support.

Informing Your Church's Missionaries of Our Services and Events

We offer a variety of activities to meet the spiritual and social needs of those missionaries currently living in Columbia. We invite you to refer your missionaries our way. Also, your church may want to participate with us in hosting and supporting these offerings.

Some current ongoing activities are:

  • Bible Studies and Fellowship Opportunities for Women
  • Social Activities for College  MKs  (Missionary Kids)
  • Seminars and Retreats for Families, Individuals and MKs

Connecting Professionals in Your Church with Our Network

We are in the process of developing a network of professionals in these and other fields who have special interest in the missionary endeavor. Do you have professionals in your church who share this interest? Would your church be willing to host a presentation by Missionary Resources for such professionals? Your church can be actively involved in the identification and coordination of what the Columbia area community offers to our missionaries.

We would welcome the opportunity to meet with representatives of your church as we explore ways to cooperatively fulfill our responsibility to those whom God has placed in our midst.
